Sara Azurza was born on 18 March 1997 in Donostia - San Sebastián and has been involved with music since her childhood. At just one year old, she was already singing and entertaining her family every weekend, showing an innate connection with singing. At the age of eight, she received her first guitar, Juanita, with which she began composing her first songs, laying the foundations for her musical career.

At seventeen, she took her first steps on stage alongside singer-songwriter Iker Lauroba, who encouraged her to record her first work. In 2018, she released her debut EP, Theorein, a collection of five songs in Basque and English with an organic and intimate sound, initially intended for her closest circle.

In 2020, she was selected for the Kutxa Kultur Musika Artistic Residency, which allowed her to form her band together with Iker Lauroba, Haritz Lauroba and Julen Barandiaran (Txiki). Thanks to this opportunity, she began performing on renowned stages such as the San Sebastián Jazz Festival (Jazzaldia), Chillida Leku, and the San Agustín Theatre in Azpeitia. In 2021, she was also a finalist in the Gaztea Maketa Lehiaketa competition.

In January 2023, Azurza released her debut album Hemen Berriro, produced by Eñaut Gaztañaga from Gaztain Estudioak. Featuring nine songs, this work explores the emotional cycle of life and stands out for its pop-soul blend. The album opened the doors to the Basque music scene for her, with her first Basqur tour.

In November 2023, she released the single Hiri Ilunen Umeak, which earned her a nomination for Best Song in Basque by the Spanish Music Academy. This track marked the beginning of a new chapter in her career and paved the way for her second album, also titled Hiri Ilunen Umeak, set to be released in May 2025. Additionally, in March 2024, she published the single Heriotzean, a song that will also be part of this upcoming work.

With a career in constant evolution, Sara Azurza continues to explore new sounds and is establishing herself as one of the most promising voices of the new Basque music scene. Her forthcoming album, produced by Jon Agirrezabalaga from El Tigre Estudio, will introduce audiences to a unique fusion of Indie Electronic Soul, reaffirming her versatility and artistic sensitivity.
